WEEK 1 ASSIGNMENT: 3D Model a Piece of Architecture

Assignment:

1. Select a piece of architecture (it can be somewhere you have visited, wish to visit one day, or a building in the city of Calgary). Tune into your environment as you walk around the city in the next week, it may help to choose something you can physically see or touch. Select a corner of, façade, column, or detail of the building (does not have to be the entire building!). Take or find high quality photograph of said architecture online.

2. 3D model the chosen area using Rhino 3D

3. Remember to take screenshots of your process and resulting model for the blog post. As well as note your learnings (i.e. commands you are using more often), and challenges you may face.

Exercise/mini presentation: Let's get to know each other!

1. Create a mini presentation for the class of 4-5 works by artists/designers/makers that interest or inspire you. These works can be handmade or digitally fabricated (try to find at least a few that use various forms of fabrication methods). Do not spend too much time on this, it is just an exercise to begin finding inspiration in precedence work. Be prepared to tell us what inspires you about these works!

2. Feel free to toss in 2-3 images of your own work/background.

3. Feel free to use the PowerPoint template attached – please stick to one image/work per slide.
