WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS

Assignments

Weekly assignments are given as we move forward with modeling, design and research dialog. The aim of assignments is to practice within modeling space. The blog is a space of reflection, critique, feedback and acts as an online journal to record learnings, challenges, and inspiration.  

Throughout the semester students will maintain a weekly blog (online journal) in which they will document the assignments and projects they produce both in and outside of class. This journal will serve both as a map of their artistic and professional growth throughout the semester, but also as evidence of the time, effort and thought they put into assignments, projects and practice. 

One or more blog posts are due each week, and each post has equal weight toward students’ final grade.

In other words, we will each be creating a Rhino model of an existing object. PROJECT 1: Surface Design / Mosaic

  Due: October 11, 11:59 pm: Week 1 // Due Sept 26, 8am:   Tune in.  Search for / notice in your surroundings, surface patterns or ornamentation that you are drawn to, photograph the items, and if possible bring physical objects to class. These can be floor or wall tiles, quilts, couch or textile patterns, as well as references from artists you love or places you have been. Consider the compilation of these patterns in unison.  Create a blog post with 5 examples of surface patterns.
