Course Syllabus

This course takes place Fall of 2022, in the AU Arts computer lab, room 431. 
The lab is accessible for use outside of class time, its available hours are posted on the door of the Thing Tank, the fabrication lab. In addition to the lab, public access computers are available to students.

PROJECT 2: Reverse Engineered Object (Week 1: SELECT)

Project Due:  November 6, 11:59 pm Week 1 //  Selection Due: Oct 2 3, 11:59 p m Assignment Description: We are going to reverse engineer an existing object via 3D modeling. In other words, we will each be creating a Rhino model of an existing object. Your first task: select an object that is is complex or made from multiple parts. “mechanical’ objects are excellent for the reason that they are inherently made up of several components that make up the assembly. For example: An ipod or Mp3 players, which have no moving parts are not the best choices. PROJECT 1: Surface Design / Mosaic

  Due: October 11, 11:59 pm: Week 1 // Due Sept 26, 8am:   Tune in.  Search for / notice in your surroundings, surface patterns or ornamentation that you are drawn to, photograph the items, and if possible bring physical objects to class. These can be floor or wall tiles, quilts, couch or textile patterns, as well as references from artists you love or places you have been. Consider the compilation of these patterns in unison.  Create a blog post with 5 examples of surface patterns.
