 3D Printed Project Models & Renders (Object Design or Chess Set)

Option 1: Design Object



Assignment Description:

Finalize your 3D printed concept design, model and render your objects as you imagine them in real life. Document your process in a new post on your process blog. See requirements below.

Assignment Requirements:

  1. Finalize your design and create a 3D-printable model(s). Consider creating self-supporting structures, or how support material will be needed (and post-processed) or if you will incorporate the supports into your design. Document your design process and write about your design logics.
  2. Give your model materials in Rhino and take TWO HD renders of your final models for presentation.
    1. One font or axonometric detail render of the model(s)
    2. Model fitted to its imagined background or landscape
  3. Deliver onto the One Drive:
    1. Working Rhino files of objects
    2. Renders in image format
  4. Document this project in a new post on your blog. Consider presentation formats. Be sure to include:
    1. Design logic and 3D modeling process screenshots with written explanation
    2. TWO HD renders of final models


Option 2: Chess Set



Assignment Description:

Finalize your 3D printed chess set design, model and render your objects. Document your process in a new post on your process blog. See requirements below.

Assignment Requirements:

  1. Finalize your designs and create 3D-printable models. Consider creating self-supporting structures, or how support material will be needed (and post-processed) or if you will incorporate the supports into your design. Document your design process and write about your design logics.
  2. Give your model materials in Rhino and take TWO HD renders of your final models for presentation.
    1. 6 different models in a line
    2. Entire set mocked up on a chess board
  3. Deliver onto the One Drive:
    1. Working Rhino files of objects
    2. Renders in image format
  4. Document this project in a new post on your blog. Consider presentation formats. Be sure to include:
    1. Design logic and 3D modeling process screenshots with written explanation
    2. TWO HD renders of final models
