Design Object or Chess Set
Assignment Description:
Prepare your design files for print, make an appointment at the Thing Tank, 3D print your object, take high quality photographs of your finished pieces, and document your process in a new post on your process blog. See requirements below.
Assignment Requirements:
- For each piece (minimum total of 6) export as STLs - be sure the models are water tight (closed polysurfaces) and manifold.
- Slice using PrusaSlicer (installed on PCs in the Thing Tank) - recommended settings: Printer set to Prusa i3 MK2.5, filament set to PLA and layer height set to .2mm (normal). Take a screen record video of the slicer simulation for your blog post.
- Print your designs on the Prusa Mini+ printers in the Thing Tank. Sign up for time with Printers at this link
- Document this project in a new post on your blog. Consider presentation formats. Be sure to include:
- Concept sketches and/or preliminary models
- Consideration of feedback from peer-to-peer sessions
- Your two HD renders of final models
- Include one screen record video of successful Slicer simulation
- Photo or video documentation of the printing process
- At least two high quality photographs your final 3D printed object
- Against a neutral background
- In its ideal setting (on a chess board, or landscape, or desk etc.)
- A brief description for each of the visuals listed above
